I have made no secret of my disdain for ESG, an over-hyped and over-sold acronym , that has been a gravy train for a whole host of players , including fund managers, consultants and academics. It is human nature to want to make the world a better place, but does impact investing have the impact that it aims to create?
In the US, the giant managementconsultant found, 73% of time spent by bank employees has a high potential to be impacted by generative AI, some 39% by automation, and 34% by augmentation. With fintech valuations still high, the likelihood of traditional banks acquiring their upstart rivals is questionable.
After years of lackluster growth, foreign direct investment is growing. As recent history has consistently demonstrated, there is nothing more certain than uncertainty. Geopolitical risks, trade wars and armed conflict have also played a part in creating friction for foreign investment.
Though the percentage is higher in some countries than others, across the region only around two-thirds of the population use the internet and/or own a smartphone, according to global managementconsulting firm A.T. government recently tipped its hat to the sector by changing bankruptcy laws to encourage entrepreneurship.
I love finding these people who are just absolute rock stars within their space that most of the investing public probably is not familiar with, haven’t heard about them. Tremendous track record, unusual background comes from computer science and software and, and pivoted into quantitative investing. Really fascinating guy.
